What is the return that I would get on my investment in leadership development? The question, often asked by decision makers before they would embark on a leadership development initiative, has been researched by several leadership development practitioners. Daniel Goleman, celebrated for his work on emotional intelligence, has done a lot of research work in this regard. In his book Primal Leadership he states: Roughly 50 to 70 percent of how employees perceive their organizations climate can be traced to the actions of one person: the leader.
